Valencia strengthens its European leadership in semiconductors with the third edition of the Valencia Silicon Forum

Valencia, June 09, 2026 – The city has once again positioned itself at the heart of Europe’s technology debate. The third edition of the Valencia Silicon Forum brought together business leaders, institutions, universities and international experts. The event focused on the future of the semiconductor industry in Europe. It also confirmed Valencia’s growing role in a strategic sector for competitiveness, innovation and technological sovereignty.

A strategic forum for Europe’s chip industry

Held on 4 and 5 June at CaixaForum Valencia, the forum gathered more than 400 representatives from the international microelectronics and integrated photonics ecosystem.

The event took place at a key moment for Europe. It coincided with the presentation of the draft European Chips Act 2.0. This future regulation will define the sector’s legal and financial framework between 2028 and 2034.

Under the theme of boosting talent, investment and competitiveness in the new semiconductor era, the forum became a space for discussion and reflection. Participants explored the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of an industry that is essential for artificial intelligence, automotive, telecommunications, defence and healthcare technologies.

Valencia gains relevance in Europe’s technology strategy

The third edition of the forum reflects Valencia’s increasingly important role within the European semiconductor ecosystem.

The city has established itself as one of Europe’s leading technology hubs. This has been possible thanks to its specialised talent, strong research capabilities, public-private collaboration and a rapidly growing business ecosystem.

Valencia’s ecosystem has also played a key role in shaping the future European strategy for the sector. It recently led the technical work of the Industry Advisory Group, a committee promoted by the European Commission and formed by some of the European Union’s leading microchip companies.

Talent, universities and innovation as competitive advantages

One of Valencia’s greatest strengths is its ability to generate and attract technological talent.

Valencian universities, research centres, startups and specialised companies are helping to strengthen a robust value chain around microelectronics and semiconductors.

This year, the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València received the Valencia ChipCity Award. The recognition highlights the importance of knowledge transfer and specialised training. These factors are essential to strengthening the city’s international positioning.

An attractive destination for technology investment

Valencia’s innovation ecosystem is attracting increasing attention from international companies and investors linked to advanced technologies.

With talent, infrastructure, quality of life, connectivity and institutional support, the city offers a strategic location for projects related to microelectronics, integrated photonics and emerging technologies.

This continued commitment from public institutions and private stakeholders reinforces Valencia’s ability to compete in one of the world’s fastest-growing technology markets.
