Valencia, 11 June 2026 – Valencia continues to strengthen its position as an international innovation hub. Swiss startup Airvolut has chosen the city as its strategic base to bring the next generation of air purification technology to market. Founded by Christian Capatt Valencia, the company is developing a disruptive solution designed to replace disposable air filters.
The “iPhone moment” for air filtration
Most air purifiers and ventilation systems rely on disposable paper or synthetic fibre filters. These filters clog quickly. They consume large amounts of energy and generate costly waste.
Airvolut has reimagined this model from the ground up.
Its technology, currently under patent application, is based on a special industrial polymer architecture. Instead of forcing air through paper filters, the system attracts fine particles using advanced electrostatic technology.
The result is highly efficient air purification. Energy consumption is significantly reduced. Waste is eliminated because the filter architecture is fully washable.
From prototype to global deployment: the Valencia Blueprint
At the heart of Airvolut’s growth strategy is the so-called Valencia Blueprint.
The company is building a printer farm in the Ruzafa district. This facility will serve as a model for its international expansion.
Once validated in Valencia, Airvolut’s electrostatic filters can be produced locally in other countries using 3D printing. This approach reduces costs and eliminates the need for complex production transfers. The team is currently working on its final prototypes in Valencia. Early tests are already underway in its Ruzafa laboratory.
One of the first applications focuses on extending the shelf life of fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables. This represents a significant commercial opportunity.
Charter, the supermarket chain owned by Consum, has already expressed interest in launching a pilot project.
At the same time, Airvolut is preparing its entry into the DACH region, including Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company is also exploring large-scale opportunities in the Middle East.
Valencia, a strategic location for growth
Airvolut selected Valencia for several reasons.
The city offers access to specialised talent, a growing startup ecosystem, competitive operating costs and an excellent quality of life.
These factors are increasingly important for attracting international professionals and innovative companies.
The company also values the presence of leading technical universities such as the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The institution provides access to talent in industrial design, 3D modelling and engineering.
Airvolut is currently based in Ruzafa, where it is renovating its new offices. The official opening is scheduled for 26 June 2026.
