FDI INTELLIGENCE RANKS VALENCIA AMONG THE BEST EUROPEAN INVESTMENT DESTINATIONS FOR HUMAN CAPITAL AND LIFESTYLE, AND CONNECTIVITY.

The British magazine FDI Intelligence, created by the Financial Times, has carried out a study in its February/March edition on the European cities and regions of the future 2022/2023. In this report, the company highlights the best investment destinations in Europe.

To carry out its study, FDI Intelligence collected data on a total of 553 European locations (including 365 cities) in five categories.  Valencia has entered the top 10 in two of the five categories: Human Capital and Lifestyle, and Connectivity.

Regarding the Connectivity category, Valencia is positioned in ninth place in a ranking that includes large and historic port cities such as Rotterdam and Antwerp. Among the data valued we find the logistics performance index, the distance to the nearest airport or the number of ports within a radius of 100 kilometers.

This fact reinforces data collected during 2021, when Valencia ranked among the 20 best connected ports in the world according to the Port liner shipping connectivity index (LSCI) prepared by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Specifically, the city ranked 19th, with a network of connections to almost 1,000 ports in 168 countries. In other words, it is connected to 87% of the world’s countries.

On the other hand, in the category of human capital and lifestyle, Valencia once again ranked ninth. Among the parameters considered are the number of universities, the ease of finding qualified talent, and the indices of social progress and human development.

Undoubtedly, the universities and qualified talent available in the city is one of the factors that encourage many companies to choose Valencia as an investment destination.
