Valencia, June 26, 2025 – Invest in Valencia took part in The Assembly, the strategic forum held during TNW Conference in Amsterdam, which brought together institutional representatives and leaders from Europe’s entrepreneurial and tech ecosystems to help shape the future agenda for innovation, entrepreneurship, and regulation across the continent. Valencia’s participation in this forum reflects its strong commitment to promoting European tech investment and reinforcing the role of Southern Europe in this transformative process.
Representing the city, Paola Miquel García, Director of Invest in Valencia, joined the roundtable on European competitiveness, alongside key figures such as Isidro Laso (European Commission), Ricarda Rattay (Hamburg Invest), Vasco Pereira da Silva (Allied for Startups), and Giuseppe Lacerenza (Keen Venture Partners), among others.
Scalability, investment, and democratic vision
One of the main topics addressed was the urgent need to make Europe a more competitive and investment-attractive region. The launch of the Scaleup Taskforce was highlighted—an alliance of 23 departments within the European Commission working in coordination to respond to the real needs of startups across Europe.
The roundtable also discussed Regime 28, a proposed legislative framework that aims to unify investment rules across EU countries to attract more foreign capital, while still preserving the legal competencies of national regulations. This would be particularly beneficial for emerging ecosystems like Spain.
“Europe regulates because Europeans demand it. We are a democratic region. If you disagree, raise your voice,” said Isidro Laso.
Valencia: connecting Southern Europe with European innovation
Valencia’s presence at The Assembly helped spotlight the city’s strategic role within the European innovation ecosystem. During the panel “Tech Ecosystem Collaboration”, moderated by Arturo Castelló (Valencia Innovation Capital), the city’s growing network of startups, innovation hubs, universities, and public institutions was highlighted as a key asset for attracting talent and investment.
As a vital link between Southern Europe and the continent’s major tech hubs, Valencia offers a distinctive value proposition—aligned with EU goals and focused on driving sustainable growth for innovative companies through European tech investment.
Spaces that inspire collaboration
Events like The Assembly help align local agendas with global challenges and foster synergies between European regions. International collaboration and active participation in spaces for policy and innovation co-design are essential for positioning Valencia as a connected, forward-thinking, and talent-driven city.
At Invest in Valencia, we are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this European forum for reflection and dialogue. We firmly believe that Southern Europe can—and must—play a leading role in the global technological transformation, and Valencia is ready to lead.
