Valencia, October 14, 2025 – The Port of Valencia has consolidated its position as the most connected in Spain and the fourth in Europe, according to the Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (PLSCI) prepared by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for the third quarter of 2025.
This recognition strengthens Valencia’s role as an international logistics hub of reference and a strategic location for investment attraction and global economic growth.
A European benchmark in connectivity
With a score of 586.39 points, the Port of Valencia ranks just behind Rotterdam, Antwerp and Hamburg, surpassing other major ports across the continent.
>The PLSCI index measures the degree of integration of ports into global maritime transport networks, taking into account factors such as the number of operating shipping lines, vessel capacity, frequency of weekly calls and number of direct connections.
This leadership consolidates Valencia as a gateway to the Mediterranean and Europe. Facilitating international trade and reinforcing its role as a key logistics center for global companies.
Spain, European leader in maritime connectivity
At the national level, Valencia tops the connectivity ranking, followed by Algeciras (fifth in Europe) and Barcelona (seventh). Thanks to these results, Spain ranks as the EU country with the best maritime connectivity, achieving 421.13 points in the UNCTAD global index.
This leadership highlights the strength of the Spanish port system — and particularly that of Valencia — in responding to the needs of global trade, driving key sectors such as industry, automotive, agri-food, and technology.
