Innovation Hub
Spaces for Connection to the Future
València is home to prominent innovation hubs that drive collaboration between academia, industry, and society:
The Scientific Park of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is a dynamic space that connects the university, the business sector, and society, fostering knowledge-driven activities. With 140,000 m² of scientific infrastructure, it houses 21 institutes and 41 research departments.
Its main mission is to transform the knowledge generated at UPV into socio-economic impact by fostering technological transfer and promoting the creation of spin-off companies based on scientific advancements. Additionally, it provides key services such as consulting, business accommodation, training, and support in R&D&i, complemented by outreach and entrepreneurship initiatives.
The CPI positions itself as a leader in open innovation, collaborating closely with public and private entities to enhance research and development.
Paterna Technology Park
Also known as Parc Tecnològic Paterna, this advanced industrial zone is located just 7 km from València and spans 104 hectares. It hosts more than 600 companies and nearly 10,000 workers operating in key sectors such as electronics, ICT, engineering, energy, environment, biotechnology, chemicals, and food.
This dynamic ecosystem includes prestigious technology institutes like AIDIMME, AITEX, AIMPLAS, ITENE, ITI, AINIA, and ITE, which collaborate with companies to drive innovation and enhance their competitiveness. By combining public and private initiatives, the park fosters industrial diversification, the adoption of new technologies, and the development of R&D projects.
Parc Tecnològic Paterna also hosts the European Center for Innovative Enterprises of València (CEEI), business training centers, clean industries, and companies specializing in R&D and consulting services, establishing itself as a benchmark in innovation and business development.
Scientific Park of the Universitat de València (PCUV)
The Scientific Park of the Universitat de València (PCUV) connects the university’s scientific potential with the productive system. Located in Paterna, next to the Burjassot-Paterna campus, it extends its activities to the Tarongers, Blasco Ibáñez, and Burjassot-Paterna campuses.
PCUV is structured into two complementary areas: the Scientific and Academic Area, which spans 45,653 m² dedicated to knowledge and includes two unique centers and seven distinguished institutes like IFIC (“Severo Ochoa”) and ICMol (“María de Maeztu”); and the Business Area, with 26,700 m² housing offices, laboratories, a business incubator, and coworking spaces.
Home to over 80 scientific and technological companies, PCUV stands out for its ecosystem that promotes innovation and internationalization. 76% of these companies engaged in R&D&i activities last year, benefiting from high-value services designed to boost their competitiveness.
La Harinera of Valencia
Inaugurated in early 2024 in the Grao district, La Harinera is an iconic public innovation space that combines history and modernity. Built in 1923 and carefully restored, the building offers 5,000 m² designed to host technological projects like the València Game City gaming hub.
The complex consists of three buildings: one main building with four floors, another with three, and an annex, along with a public-access café and a bioclimatic garden. As part of the public innovation axis in València, alongside Las Naves, La Harinera contributes to a total of 10,000 m² dedicated to technological and creative development. Among its highlighted projects are the European Consortium of Digital Infrastructure Digital Twins, Citiverso, and a consortium focused on medical imaging for cancer treatment.
Additionally, La Harinera is home to the softlanding program of Invest in València, designed to support the initial integration of foreign companies. This program offers temporary workspaces and helps companies establish strategic connections within the city.
