Valencia, September 23, 2025 – The second edition of the Valencia Silicon Forum has confirmed our city’s role as an international benchmark in the semiconductor industry, a strategic sector for global technological and economic development.
The event, promoted by Valencia Silicon Cluster (VaSiC) and the City Council of Valencia under the Valencia Innovation Capital strategy, brought together more than 350 attendees and 58 national and international speakers. Consolidating itself as a key forum for dialogue between institutions, companies, academia, and research centers.
Talent and innovation for the future
During the inauguration, Mayor María José Catalá highlighted that Valencia and its metropolitan area concentrate 50% of Spain’s human resources in microelectronics. And 60% in photonics. A position that gives the territory a strategic strength in the semiconductor industry. She also underlined the alliance established between the sector and public universities to consolidate the city as a benchmark for qualified employment for young people. In this context, she announced the launch of the first semiconductor talent accelerator and the introduction of tax incentives to boost business competitiveness and attract new investment.
At the same time, the Generalitat presented the promotion of the Valencian International Semiconductor Campus. Which will place our region among the main global references in microelectronics, photonics, and advanced materials.
With more than 60% of Spain’s microchip research and industrial design concentrated in the Valencian Community. And with forecasts pointing to the need for 270,000 engineers in Europe by 2030, Valencia offers a unique ecosystem for the growth of this industry. Testimonials such as that of Lynette Ng, Global Head of Talent at TSMC, emphasized the potential of local talent and the strength of the Valencian university system in STEM.
In addition, the EU Chips Act 2.0 foresees an investment of €31.5 billion in the sector at the European level. Consolidating a framework of opportunities for emerging regions such as Valencia to position themselves on the global microelectronics map.
